In 2004, Architect R. Tom Compton developed EnergyEdge products to meet the need for concrete slab edge insulation (SEI) and protection in the construction market.
Our product becomes integral to the building itself by creating a protective band around exposed concrete and helping prevent concrete decay. International Code Council (ICC) Energy and Building codes (IBC, IRC, and IECC) have long required SEI.
Building science and industry standards now routinely include slab and foundation perimeter insulation as normal building practice. EnergyEdge brings to the design and construction industry a single solution that forms, insulates, and protects exposed concrete perimeters in one product.
Slab edge insulation (SEI) is required in IECC Energy and Building codes, while almost all building performance standards, including EnergyStar, promote SEI to save energy and promote comfort in all kinds of construction.
EnergyEdge was formally introduced at the World of Concrete in 2006. Our products have been installed coast to coast, primarily in climate zone 4, and above as supported by ICC code.
